Watchdog ("we", "us", "our") is a website monitoring service operated by Animiso. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it. We keep it simple because we don't do anything shady.
What we collect
- Email address — used to create your account and send you alerts and login links.
- Website URLs — the sites you add to Watchdog so we can monitor them.
- Monitoring data — uptime status, response times, error types, and check history for your monitored sites.
- Session data — a session token stored in a cookie to keep you logged in.
- Payment data — handled entirely by LemonSqueezy. We never see or store your card details.
What we don't collect
- We don't track you across the web.
- We don't sell your data to anyone, ever.
- We don't use advertising or third-party analytics trackers.
- We don't read the content of the websites you monitor.
How we use your data
Your email is used to send you login links and downtime alerts — that's it. We don't send marketing emails unless you explicitly ask for them. Your website URLs are used only to perform uptime checks. Monitoring data is stored so you can view your uptime history in your dashboard.
AI Diagnosis
When a site goes down, we send the error type and the site URL to Groq's API to generate a plain-English diagnosis. We do not send any personal information or site content to Groq — only the technical error code and URL. Groq's privacy policy governs their handling of this data.
Data storage
Your data is stored in Cloudflare D1 (database) and Cloudflare KV (session/token storage), both of which are hosted on Cloudflare's infrastructure. Cloudflare's privacy policy governs their handling of infrastructure-level data.
Data retention
- Check history is kept for the last 20 checks per site.
- Expired sessions are automatically deleted.
- If you delete your account, all your data (sites, checks, sessions) is permanently deleted immediately.
Your rights
You can delete your account at any time from your dashboard settings. This permanently removes all your data. You can also contact us to request a copy of your data or ask any questions.
Cookies
We use a single HttpOnly session cookie to keep you logged in. It expires after 7 days or when you log out. We don't use tracking cookies or third-party cookies.
Changes to this policy
If we make significant changes, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Continued use of Watchdog after changes constitutes acceptance.
